Of T and philosophical discussions

Next week, it'll be 4 months for me since I moved to Boston. Random thoughts that were going through my mind during my morning commute... public transportation in greater Boston area is very convenient, I've always had a car since I came to the United States until I moved here and I wouldn't have it any other way. Parking is expensive, not to mention gas and insurance are also pricier here. My life revolves around Charlie and the T, Charlie is the name of the card that you use at the subway and local buses. And T is the name we use here for the subway. An interesting observation about riding the T... for the last 4 months, I've been taking the same train at the same time every morning and evening to and from work, and I hardly recognize any faces/people. You would think that the same people would be going to and coming from work/school at the same times every week day, but apparently that's not the case. Regardless it's a great time to people-watch while riding the T. Another not so interesting observation... close to half the people on the trains have their mp3 players on while they're reading the Metro or Globe (mostly Metro cause it's free), and most of 'em have iPods as their mp3 players. Needless to say, it's amazing how Apple came into a market where Sony was the pioneer and the established leader and not only took the market away from them, but in the process became a cultural icon. As much as I like avoiding traffic and expensive parking by riding the T, I do miss driving a car. I was reminded of it last Sunday when I drove my friend's Mazda 6 - Zoom Zoom on the highway on our way to Hyannis port for the ferry ride to Nantucket.

So this Thursday evening didn't turn out to be what I had in mind. I was on Central Square when I felt the sudden urge of having cheesecake or some dessert, so I called my friend Zeeshan and he picked me up. But after driving for an hour through Cambridge, Watertown, Waltham and Charlestown, we ended up not eating cheesecake but smoking Coconut flavored Shisha at Tangierino. My first time smoking Coconut, it was alright, nothing like double apple :) And we started talking about how all of us do things in life that we're not so proud of, and yet some of us still keep doing those things. The conclusion came out to be that no one among us is a saint and all of us have done things in the past that we regret and wish we hadn't gone that route... but lucky amongst us are those who get to repent and ask for forgiveness either from others or in some cases ourselves, vowing to stay away from the "wrongs" whatever they may be...
