My adventures continued last weekend with a trip down to Bash Bish Falls State Park which is on the extreme Southwestern corner of MA, and it's spread over three states, namely MA, NY, and CT. Zeeshan and I picked up our rental car from Logan early in the morning and started our nice and scenic drive on I-90 West. It had been raining for the past few days and this morning was no exception with nasty continuous drizzle and rather low temperatures for mid May. But there was nothing that could dampen our spirits, so we continued our drive enjoying the great XM satellite channels. I guess I was just late in discovering XM but I was totally impressed. My favorite channel has to be The System, pure electronic trance commercial free!! We listened to the same station pretty much throughout the way.
Once we got there, we began our descent to the bottom of the falls, and the way was treacherous at best :) quite slippery and muddy because of the continuous rain but it was fun. We got to the bottom and thought it was totally worth it. The falls is pretty to say the least, but could be really dangerous. I read online some hippy a** free spirits tried to dive from the top, and over the years there have been 25 deaths here. I can see why cause the whole falls is rock strewn and once you get to the bottom, it's really shallow so one would hit the rocks pretty hard I imagine. We just sat there on the rocks and took some scenic pictures. We wanted to get a little more adventurous and make our way down on the slippery rocks while following the water, but we figured it was not a good idea since the place was deserted for the most part and we were getting NO cell phone signals.
What I found really amusing was the fact that on this marked trail you could walk over the state line and end up in New York state, pretty cool stuff! Coming back up where the car was parked was definitely a challenge. We ended the adventurous day by devouring huge juicy burgers at Friendly's.
